Important factors of Cinema in the Pitching Lab of the Castellorizo International Documentary Festival “Beyond Borders”

The Pitching Lab of the Castellorizo International Documentary Film Festival “Beyond Borders” is happy to renew its appointment for another year and continues its Pitching Lab entitled “From an idea to film”. The aim of the Lab is to offer young creators the opportunity to present their basic idea for a documentary to a panel of experienced European producers, television and film actors and celebrities working in the field of documentary. Each participant will receive high professional advice and information on how his/her idea can be implemented in a project capable of being presented to the wider documentary community. Each participation will last 15 minutes and specifically 3-5 minutes for the presentation of the project and 10-12 minutes for questions and discussion. Our goal is for the “Beyond Borders” Festival to be a channel of mediation between recognized and trained professionals from the film industry and between emerging and young filmmakers, in order to highlight and promote its cinematic talents of the future.

The Pitching Lab will be implemented via Zoom video conferencing, so that it is accessible to more and more creators. At the same time, participants are not required to send trailers or any other supporting material. The originality and dynamics of the idea is the main criterion for the selection of the project.

In order for the interested parties to register, it is necessary to fill in a simple participation form (see relevant file) and send it to pitchinglab.kastellorizo2022@gmail.com.

Participation is free. The deadline for participation is July 31, 2022August 7th, 2022. The jury will select a total of 20 candidate projects (plus an additional 5 alternates). Candidates will be informed of their selection no later than August 15, 2022. For the smooth running of the pitching lab, the availability of participants on the Zoom platform during the festival week (August 21-28) is essential.

The Festival is organized by the Hellenic History Foundation (IDISME), in collaboration with Écrans des Mondes (Paris). The 7th International Documentary Film Festival “Beyond Borders” is under the auspices of HE the President of the Republic Katerina Sakellaropoulou, and has the support and / or sponsorship of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of National Defence, the Ministry of Culture and Sports, the Secretariat General for Greeks Abroad and Public Diplomacy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Secretariat General for the Aegean and Island Policy, the Hellenic Parliament, the Municipality of Megisti, the Embassies of Australia, USA, Cyprus, EKOME, the Greek Film Centre and ERT.
