Elena Efeoglou is a visual artist whose practices include photography and video art. She studied Fine Arts at the Department of Fine and Applied Arts, School of Fine Arts, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece, she has an MFA in Photography from the University of Belgrade, Serbia and she holds a PhD from the Department of Fine and Applied Arts at the University of Western Macedonia, Greece. Her PhD thesis focused on the qualitative analysis of photographic representations during the Greek civil war.
Her artistic interests include audiovisual installations, video and photography and her work has been presented internationally at museums, galleries and festivals in Greece and abroad (Republic of Korea, Austria, The Netherlands, Turkey, Croatia, Philippines, USA, and more).
Her research interests are mainly in the field of visual communication with a special interest in the ways in which the visual material shapes the individual and collective memory, the role photography plays in the creation and documentation of human behavior and the representations of the urban / natural environment as spatial narratives.
From 2013 until 2018 she was a Scientific Associate Professor (ΠΔ407/80) in “Photography Class” at the Department of Fine and Applied Arts, in University of Western Macedonia Greece. She is a Laboratory Teaching Stuff Member in School of Film Studies, Aristotle University, Greece.
