
Efthimis Hatzis is a filmmaker whose work is defined by poetic realism and allegorical storytelling. His debut feature, Shores of Twilight, supported by the Greek Film Center, marked his return to Greece. His body of work also includes Rare Land, Christmas Anti-fable, Trinity, and Relics, which have screened and won awards at international festivals. He has taught Film Directing at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki since the Film School’s founding in 2004 and has also taught at other universities and film schools in Greece. Raised in the Bronx, he first studied astrophysics at the University of Pennsylvania, then turned to cinema, earning a Master of Fine Arts in Film Directing at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts. He is in production on a new black-and-white feature film, the story of a man whose journey at sea unfolds through loss, memory, and transcendence.
