Mrs. Athanasia Stergiaki was born in Larisa. She studied Musicology at the Faculty of Fine Arts, School of Music Studies, at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. She continued her postgraduate studies at the School of Engineering of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, specializing in the new Information and Communication Technologies and the application of Audio & Video Technologies in education and production. She has created many audiovisual multimedia applications that can be implemented in education.
She has years of experience in primary and secondary education, and she has specialized in the education of people with special needs. She has been involved in student internships and has organized and participated in a variety of events and presentations in Greece and abroad. Also, she has been involved, by means of numerous projects, in the teaching and practice of audiovisual media through the production of short and feature-length films, including the “stop-motion” animation technique. Since 2019 she has been a member of the Laboratory Teaching Staff in the field of Film Editing at the School of Film Studies of A.U.TH.
Since 2015 she has been involved in researching the creation of audiovisual resources and applications that utilize sensors (Leap motion, Kinect, etc.) as a team member of the Multimedia, Security and Networking Laboratory (MSN Lab), at the Department of Applied Informatics, University of Macedonia (UOM), Thessaloniki. Her research has been published in the form of scientific articles and has been presented in Greek and international conferences and journals. She has been participating in ERASMUS programs and European research projects. She has been a member of the proposals authoring team of various European projects such as, HORIZON, NSRF (National Strategic Reference Framework), ΝΕW SCIENTISTS etc).
